Technician Cell Culture

Tasks

In this position, you will work in a high-tech laboratory environment equipped with the latest techniques and innovations. Your focus will be on cell culture processes in the Clinical Virology Services department of Viroclinics Biosciences, which currently consists of a director, 2 managers, 5 group leaders and a core team of technicians. You will be working at the Rotterdam Science Tower, where our head office is based.

The following tasks will be a part of your responsibilities:

  • Growing and preparing cells for analysis;
  • Maintaining, developing and monitoring support processes, e.g. media preparation, stock management and refrigerated storage;
  • Additional responsibilities, including database management, supply management and administration;
  • Liaising with peers and other stakeholders (clinical technicians, clinical trial operations, study directors/ scientists, QA managers) to safeguard a smooth cell culture project workflow;
  • Apply quality guidelines in accordance with ISO15189, GLP, GCLP and GCP methodologies.

Personal competences

We are looking for a colleague who will work in a quality-oriented manner and has an eye for detail in diagnostic functions. Because you work in a team, it is important that you have good communication skills. Our customers are king, working in a service-oriented manner and thinking along with the customer is therefore a must. Flexibility and being able to oversee several tasks at the same time is important.

Required education and experience:

  • Completed education at MBO/HBO level in microbiology, virology and/or immunology;
  • Ideally, expertise in cell culture;
  • Strong verbal and written command of Dutch and English at an advanced level;
  • Ability to work at biological level II (BSL-2).

Terms of employment

The position of Cell Culture Technician is available for part- and fulltime employment. We offer you a salary that corresponds with your education, experience and our company policy. We offer you a one-year contract with the possibility of extension and a permanent contract upon good performance. Furthermore, you will receive 8% holiday allowance and travel allowance.

Viroclinics-DDL is committed to the development of its employees. You will have access to general  and job related training courses. In consultation with your supervisor, we will provide you with the opportunity to join external courses and training.
