Technician Research and Development (R&D)
In this position you will be involved with the development, optimization, qualification, validation and implementation of new virological and immunological assays required for the clinical and preclinical services of Viroclinics. Together with your colleagues of the R&D department you will be working on several long-term and short-term studies in parallel. You will have clear deliverables for each study and strict deadlines will need to be met. You will be working at the Rotterdam Science Tower, where our head office is based.
The following tasks will be a part of your responsibilities:
- Prepare and organize experiments in order to produce reliable and precise data;
- Perform hands-on laboratory work, independently or together with colleagues;
- Record and analyze data and present this to senior colleague;
- Ensure good documentation practice (GDP);
- Writing of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and other documents required for performing the assays;
- Participation in general lab tasks such as lab cleaning and temperature monitoring of equipment.
Personal competences
We are looking for a colleague who is focused on quality and pays attention to detail and is a problem solver. We expect a proactive work attitude and a great commitment to complete the projects successfully. Furthermore, your communication and organizational skills need to be excellent. Since we work on different projects at the same time, you need to be able to switch easily between the projects and be flexible.
Required education and experience:
- HBO (bachelor) or university (master) degree in immunology, virology or a related field;
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience;
- Excellent English language skills, both verbally and written;
- Good knowledge of, and experience with, techniques used in detection and characterization of viruses and virus-specific immune responses, such as virus culture, cell culture, virus neutralization assays, virus titrations, ELISA, ELISpot, Flow cytometry and PBMC isolation.
Terms of employment
Technician R&D is a fulltime position, for 40 hours a week. We offer you a salary that corresponds with your education, experience and our company policy. We offer you a one-year contract with the possibility of extension and a permanent contract upon good performance. Furthermore, you will receive 8% holiday allowance and travel allowance.
